 Governor Profile

I am proud to have been associated with Feltham Hill Schools since my eldest son started in 1988 and I became first a Parent Governor in 1995 and an LA Governor in 2002. My four children all attended Feltham Hill and enjoyed their time there. As I strongly believe in participating and giving back to the school life, I became a Governor at Feltham Hill. There have been many changes in education during my time as a Governor and I continue to welcome the challenges and the chance to work with the Principal and staff to provide the best opportunities for all our pupils at Oak Hill Academy West London.

Dee Howley - Co-opted (Chair)

Governor Profile

I moved to Feltham in 1982. My daughter, who was 9 years old, attended FHJS. On my retirement in 1996 and through a friend, I became interested in voluntary work, and joined FHJS Governing Body when the previous Governing Bodies that included the Infants school, separated and became independent. I was appointed by the LA in 2000.  I see my role as to support the Head Teacher, Staff and the Chair of Governors in striving to achieve an outstanding Ofsted grade, by being a critical friend. Education of the children is paramount and Oak Hill Academy deserves the support of all its stakeholders, i.e.: parents, governors and the local community.

Graham Holding - Co-opted

Governor Profile

I became a Governor at the School in June 2013 after I had finished full time work and I wanted to take on voluntary roles. My career was spent in the Department of Health and the NHS, and most recently I was chief executive of a charity which runs care homes for older people. Now, I am a trustee of several charities and also a chair of governors of a school for disabled children. At Oak Hill I see my role as providing support (and if necessary challenge!) to the work of the Principal and senior team. I have seen improvements even in the brief time I have been involved and I want to help the School provide an even better education for local children.

Kate James - Vice Chair of Governors

Governor Profile

I became a Governor of Oak Hill Academy in 2014 as the representative of the Aspirations Academies Central Management Team. I am the named Governor for Inclusion.  As a local resident of the area with a 9 year old son with special needs, I also so have a personal interest in the education system as well as in my professional role.  I hope that with my knowledge of other schools in the area that I will be able to bring value to my role as a Governor by sharing best practice with Oak Hill Academy as well as providing guidance from the Central Management Team.

Caroline Barringer -  Aspirations Academies Trust Governor

Governor Profile

I have been a Governor at Oak Hill Academy since September 2013, when my son was in Year 5. I had volunteered at the school on many occasions and over time became not only interested in understanding a bit more about how such and large and inclusive school functioned, but also helping the school to achieve the best outcomes for all its pupils.  I am particularly interested in science having studied chemistry and chemical engineering, but I am also enthusiastic about a wide range of subjects, and as such am glad to see that Oak Hill Academy uses the curriculum to introduce a broad spectrum of ideas to the pupils. I hope that in my role as Governor I can work with the staff as they seek to get the very best from each child

Muriel Axford - Parent Governor

Governor Profile

My background is in Education.  I worked in the Education Department at the London Borough of Hounslow (now Children’s Services & Adults’ Services) for over 22 years, the latter 15 years as PA to the Director.  I retired 3 years ago, but I still have an interest in the challenges that schools are facing and I am a GB correspondent at 2 Feltham schools and for the Hounslow Schools Governing Body Association.  In 2016/17, I will have 3 grandchildren attending Oak Hill Academy and so, as a Parent Governor, I will, hopefully, be able to act as a useful link between Parents / Carers and the school.  From my voluntary work within the school, I also hope to gain a better understanding of how the school functions and, along with my previous knowledge, put this into good use to help the other Governors and staff to provide the best education that we can for all the pupils.

Lesley Crossley - Parent Governor

Governor Profile

I have been a school governor for many years, my role is staff governor and I take pride in the role being the link between the staff and governors. I have been a governor for 15 years and a member of staff for 24 years. Both of my children came through this school and now my granddaughter has nearly completed her first year here too.

Jane Cooper - Staff Governor

Governor Profile

I am a paramedic and have been working for the London Ambulance service for the past 20 years.

I started as a parent governor at Oak Hill Academy (or Feltham Hill Junior school as it was then) in 2009 and later I became a Community or Co-opted Governor. Being a Co-opted governor means that I don’t have to be a parent to be a governor, although I do have a son in year 6.

My 2 daughters have also attended this school, both are currently in secondary school and doing very well.

I feel that this school has given my children an very good start to their education and just as importantly, their social development.

Being a Governor gives you a much clearer understanding of the running of the school and the challenges that school life brings.

As a governor I know that the decisions I make, along with other governors, have a positive impact on the education and social wellbeing of my children and other children in the school.

Being a Governor is very rewarding knowing that I can assist other parents and children of Oak Hill Academy.

Please feel free to contact me or any of the other Governors if you wish to know more.
